Abstract

The study aimed at acquainting onself with one of the experiences of writing local Andalusian history as Ahmed Ibn Abderrahman Ibn Mattahir Al-Ansari (489 Hejiri/1096 A.D) did on the local town of Toledo.This paper is mostly concerned with Abu Jaafar Ibn Mattahar’s lifetime, cultural activities and the conditions, which made him, write about Toledo The research revealed that Ibn Mattahar was a native of Toledo and wanted to record the history of the town after its fall in Alfonso’s hands (479 Hejiri/1085 A.D), so he started to write the History of Toledo’s Scholars, including  biographies of all the men with connection with science and knowledge to the extent that the book became a cultural record of the scientific movement in the town. There appeared in his biographies a clear concern with time.
